The Air Battle Manager is kept accountable by the person responsible for the current mission's execution and tasking—the Section Lead or the individual coordinating the assigned task. This direct supervisor ensures the ABM’s actions fit the immediate priorities, ROE, and command intent for that mission, and who assigns the specific duties and timelines the ABM must follow. The Commander or Director of Operations holds the overall authority and direction, but not the day-to-day supervision of the ABM. The mission crew chief focuses on readiness and maintenance of the crew and equipment, not the ABM’s tactical decisions, and the ADAFCO provides liaison and guidance on air defense coordination rather than supervisory authority.
